Whoa, whoa, whoa, so now Hutting is starting? And batting second, no less? Patron's in left? Third-catcher Zach Miller is DH? I figured with a lefty on the mound we'd see something a little different (nevermind LH hitter McNeil is still leading off) but this? I give up. Let's just play some ball...

4:32 PM (ET): Speaking of the pitching rotations, the OFFICIAL pitching match-up today is: Jon Maciel, RHP vs. Kevin Ziomek, LHP.

I’m intrigued to see what Buckley’s crew gets from he junior Maciel. Last fall it appeared Maciel was merely a contender for a rotation spot and Shane Carle would be throwing Fridays. The fact that it’s Maciel-Carle, instead of the other way around, sounds pretty encouraging in terms of how Maciel must be progressing.

Of course, it’s also possible Carle has simply been a disappointment. However, given the solid draft prospect that he is, it seems unlikely Carle would’ve regressed that significantly.


4:00 PM (ET): I'm lucky enough to have the day off work (can't say the same about the rest of the weekend, unfortunately), so I'll be parked in front of the computer all night as I watch the Dirtbags in Nashville. 

If I go long stretches without posting anything, it's probably because I'm in the process of burning down my apartment as I attempt to cook bacon-wrapped hot dogs. I'll also be doing plenty of tweeting @Dirtbag_Blues. 

Also, it appears the southpaw Kevin Ziomek will be starting today for Vandy. Beede on Saturday, and Pecoraro on Sunday. This news comes right after noticing my apparent mix up with the LBSU rotation (although, in my defense, the LBSU website lists the "rotation" as "Maciel-Carle-Hunt" and the "Starting Pitchers" as "Carle-Maciel-Hunt"). My dear readers, you should never trust me again....
